Director
A director of the practice, which he set up with Gill Robinson
in 1999, Jim has worked in private practice since qualifying
as an Architect in 1970. His principal areas of expertise
are in master planning, urban design and development advice.
He has delivered a wide range of projects in many sectors
and is intimately involved in the regeneration of cities promoting
quality of design.

Key Project Experience:
- Masterplans for the regeneration of Manchester, including
the plans for the Commonwealth Games in 2002. Planning and
strategic advice for the new Commonwealth Pool. Technical
advice on all venues including the athletes village.
- A series of projects involving the design of the public
realm In Manchester , including Piccadilly Gardens ,Exchange
Square, Ancoats Urban Village,Princess Parkway and Cheetham
Hill Road.
- Advice to Liverpool City Council on the Paradise Street
Development and Chavasse Park.
- Development of design guidance for both Liverpool and
Manchester.
- Advice to client teams briefing and assessment of competitions,
including Manchester City Art gallery and the new children's
hospital for Guy's and St. Thomas' hospitals, London.
- Burnley Hospital a PFI bid for a new 140 bed hospital
- Manchester Royal Infirmary urban design and planning guidance
